Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to a pole class?

In beginner levels yoga pants and a tank top is fine.  In higher levels shorts are needed to grip the pole.  I also recommend a crop top or sports bra when you begin inverting.

Is there a weight limit?

The Poles used have a 200lb weight limit however there are many moves that can be performed without swinging or hanging from the pole.

Do I have to wear high heels?

All classes are taught barefoot.  You may if you desire bring heels to dance in after class if time allows and in review classes you may bring your heels once you are comfortable with the moves.  Heels will always be optional.

What kind of poles do you use?

The poles used are from the top pole manufacturers across the world.  You will have access to 3 different pole brands, platinum stages, Lil Minx and X pole.  All 3 poles have been safety tested and are used commonly in the pole industry.  As of right now all poles used are 2 inches in diameter, the standard industry size.  If demands grow we can look at bringing in 1 pole smaller in diameter, be sure to fill out comment cards at the end of your session and put all of your thoughts and requests down.

What are the benefits of pole dance?

Pole dance is an all over body work out.  Spins build and tone shoulders and legs, inverts help build your core muscles and as you progress through tricks each part of your body is used to support your body weight on the pole.  Pole dance is a progressive fitness routine which builds on itself and creates lean and flexible muscles.

Do I need previous fitness or dance experience?

No.  Pole Dance is taught from a beginners level which starts out with simple moves using the pole as a prop and builds up to performing moves on the  pole.  Beginner classes are designed with everyone in mind.  While previous experience is not necessary it is recommended always to consult your physician about beginning a new work out routine.

Will I be required to learn choreography?

No.  Choreography classes are available to those who want them, these classes are designed with everyone in mind and we realize not everyone wants to learn routines.  Pole dance is a very creative sport, feel free to make up your own routines based on what you’ve learned.

How many people are there per pole?

2-3 people in the beginning as you advance more pole time is required to learn all the moves there for classes are smaller.  The pole buddy system is a great way to learn from one another and build great friendships.

How do I know if I am ready to advance to a higher pole level?

All advancement requires instructor approval.  At the end of your Pole Level class the instructor will get with you and together you will decide if you’d like to repeat a level or move forward.  The instructor is very hands on with her students and will help you with determining what is best for you.

Where can I buy a pole?

We do not sell poles as of now, however there are a multitude of different poles available and your instructor has used all of them.  Your instructor is a great resource for helping you find the pole that is right for you.

What if I miss a class?

If you are going to miss a class, please provide at least 24 hours notice.  In case of an emergency please contact your instructor as soon as possible and arrange for a make up session.  There is 1 make up session per level.  Keep in mind there are no refunds so please be sure to make it to class every week.  If something comes up and you will miss 2 or more of the 4 classes please arrange to be placed in another session (additional fees may apply.)

Can I observe a class to see if this for me?

No.  We do not allow observers in the class simply because it can make the students uncomfortable.  Taster classes are available, they are one time classes that will walk you through the very basics of pole dance.  This is the best way to determine if Pole Fitness is right for you.

Are men allowed?

At this time classes are all women.  If demands grow for men a class will be designed and designated as a coed class.  Classes are small and private to provide the maximum comfort, creativity and support for women.  Any men interested in Pole classes, feel free to email me about privates lessons.
